A project of the International Education Network

We believe that long-term stays abroad can make an important contribution to international understanding. In our opinion, nobody should miss the chance to experience another culture and to broaden one’s horizon!

It is our aim to ensure that students as well as young adults and their parents have access to competent information about stays abroad and international learning opportunities. Thus, the International Education Network links education providers and agencies with customers seeking for good education as well as interesting travel and work options in Europe and worldwide.

Benefit from our profound knowledge of the European education market and join our fairs!

About IEN

The International Education Network was founded in 2005 by Thomas Terbeck, who grew up near Dortmund in the west of Germany. When he was 16, he decided to spend a high school year in the USA. Ever since then, his itchy feet did not let him stay in Germany for long: Turning 25, he had already visited about 40 countries of our beautiful planet – as backpacker, language student, intern, and as Erasmus student.

1999, still at university, Thomas published the Handbuch Fernweh, which is considered the most comprehensive German guidebook about high school stays abroad. After successfully completing his degree in History, Education Science and Social Studies, he worked as a student counsellor at the Ruhr-University in Bochum for four years. At the same time he founded the independent education counselling service weltweiser and started to organise the German Youth Education & Travel Fair JuBi in 2003.
